Overview:

Impressive cave situated direcktly under the top of Pic Saint-Loup mountain. The north-orientated as well as exposed location making it a perfect summer crack. The white limestone is overhanging and covered with tufas in all variations demanding and athletic and endurance way of climbing.


How to get there:

From Montpellier take the D986 in direction of “Ganges”. After about 17km turn right to D113 in direction of “Cazevielle”. Just behind the little village Cazevielle is located a big parking place for hikers (GPS:43°46’12.4″N 3°47’31.5″E)

From there leading a big hiking path to the top of Pic Saint-Loup mountain. From the cross follow the ridge downwards in eastern direction. After about 200m an anchor has to be found from which You can rappel down to the sector. Please note: For rappelling down a fix rope with a minimum length of 40m is necessary and has to be left in place for making Your way out of the sector by jumaring up to the ridge. Alternatively You can exit via a 7a route to the right up to the ridge


Accommodation:

There are different accommodations:

  • If You have a car/van/motorhome with sleep accommodation it´s very comfortable to stay at the parking place
  • Camping Pic sant Loup (~ 9 km)
  • Many holiday arpartments to rent in the nearby surrounding

Shopping:

Foods:
Shopping centers can be found in Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers (~ 13km) or Ganges (~ 27km).

Water:
In the small village of Cazevielle is a fountain located directly next to the church.

Guidebook:
Actually the is no guidebook existing, but however, the names of the routes are mostly written at the beginning . You can find a complete list of the route at the 8a.nu website.


Best time:

June till October; the north-orientated as well as exposed location with always little wind blowing making it a perfect crack for summer times.

Limestone with various tufas
